I love going on road trips really for one reason- the time I get to be in the car and ponder. I know this sounds crazy, but there are not a lot of distractions so I just turn off the radio and strategize all of the world's and my problems that I will fix when the drive is over. It's also a great time for Smitty and I to just talk. Usually we have a lot of distractions around the house (TV, iPOD, phone, chores, etc) On our way home from D.C. (pictures soon) we talked about keeping journals and all of the events that we should be recording about our stay here in Erie.
SO this post is about all the facts people have told me about my own religion
1) I must make 13 quilts before I can marry (i think this might be the amish)
2) That all mormons go to THE BYU
3) we all own a wheat grinder
4) that I wear men's underwear to work
5) A co-worker asked where I was from, I told him Utah. His response "that place is full of mormons!!" (he yelled it) I did not tell him I am LDS. I am going to save the shock for another time.
6) Filling out my pre-op papers I was asked about my religious preference, I said LDS and the lady looked confused. I said you could also try looking for Mormon. Her response "mormon sounds right."
7) I was asked about polygamy for the first time ever.
8) I was asked how come I can wear normal clothing and others can't. All I can think of is people going to the Palmyra Pageant and seeing all the costumes.
9) the patient I was taking care of yesterday changed the channel on his TV to the Glen Beck show so I would be more comfortable in his room
There are a couple more but I can't remember now
so anyone I have been fabric shopping with in the past year know I wanted to make a black, white and red quilt to match my living room. After changing the the pattern five or six times and trying to figure out how I could get my grandma to finish it for me; I thought- I won't use a quilt as much as I would a blanket. so TADA!!! these pics aren't great but you get the idea!
We thawed out for about three days and then BAM!! another foot of snow and very cold temps (weather.com says 17 degrees, feels like -1) Smitty is trucking along with school and I am working quite a bit so I can sleep during the day. Hopefully that will make this winter weather disappear faster!!
I fell in that and my shoes came off so I had to go in head first and get them.
I also fell/ slide down that back of this wave.
so last year winter I thought is was crazy how many people for ice fishing here. There are hundreds of them out on the bay side in the little huts some days. I have told Smitty for a while now I wanted to go walk on the lake like they do. Smitty had a break from school this weekend so on Friday afternoon we went out to the lake ..... and we walked on it.... and I thought it was lame. we got out there and I said "this is it?" i don't know what I was thinking it would be like but I was disappointed. I remembered that my friend Havalah told me that last year her and her husband went on walked on the waves on the beach side. so we went over to the beach side. MUCH COOLER!!. These giant waves have literally frozen in place and you can just walk out on them. We were not prepared for how cold it was so we didn't last long, but we are definitely going back!!

We have had a very uneventful month except for the pictures I posted. We got back from Christmas break and Smitty had to jump right back into school and I jumped back into work. It has snowed a lot and the temp outside has hit the negatives so we really have been hibernating. We did get together with with our friends Mike, Cassidy, Ashley & Cody on New Year's for games, sweets and cider.
