Smitty's rant

By no means am I one for politics. However, I have my opinions on certain matters. Such as idiots who think their religion gives them the right to belittle others for the beliefs or teachings they receive. I'm talking about the idiot who wants to burn the Qu'ran, idiots who think that by him burning the Qu'ran they need to lash out at unrelated individuals because they think they have defamed their beliefs, idiots who defend either side, and just idiots in general I guess (I realize their are a lot of "they" and "theirs" in that sentence so good luck keeping it straight, but it's my rant).

1st idiot - What does burning the Qu'ran do? How does that "show them"? Honestly, what in your brain makes you think that by burning a book (one with a large # of people that are willing to kill for its teaching) would be a good idea and good for our troops that are in the most hostile areas of this world? By the way our troops are in a place where they will kill them simply for not believing in this book....you're an idiot.

2nd idiots - He's not burning your copy! Honestly, he cannot burn your beliefs. If burning a book means you lose some of your ability to believe in God then check your faith. If my Book of Mormon were stolen and burned (the very same one that has all of my notes from my mission and that I still use to study) I would still have the same conviction and faith in God. Sure I would be sad that my book was gone, but I am positive that I would not seek blood of the person responsible and more importantly I would not get extra pissed at someone that nothing to do with crap head's indescretion. Seriously, believe in your beliefs but don't let others affect how you believe. Another annoying aspect to this group and it fits 1st idiot as well, why is your pride so big that you find yourself important enough to act this way? I have not read (I don't plan to either) the Qu'ran, but I am sure it doesn't teach killing those that hurt your pride is of God. I realize that I could be wrong on that.

3rd idiots - This is the group (I am mainly talking about 1 individual but he has followers) that bothers me the most. Don't defend someone that is in the wrong just because another has wronged the first group. Tell them both they are being stupid! Don't pander to the 2nd idiots just because you know that the followers of the 1st idiot won't actually do anything. If you have to speak out about it (which I don't think you even need to do that) then tell them both off! That would still be PC but at least you would be right. Think about it. Why does 1st idiot feel the need for his stupidity? Why does the 2nd idiot feel his need? They both feel justified. However, both of their justification is completely erroneous.

point #4 - so to sum up "O be wise; what can I say more?" (Jacob 6:12) or in my own words "don't be an idiot."

Trek

Its been almost a month since we went on trek, so I thought we would post a couple of photos. we had miserable rainy weather and storms but we had a really great group. The quietest group in the bunch- all the other youth would stay up to talk, sing and play games but our group was in bed by 1030 every night. We were confused on why we were called to serve on trek because we both teach in primary but Smitty was just called to serve in the stake young mens presidency so we know that this was his opportunity to meet all youth at once.

We have had a lot going on over the last couple of weeks but I keep forgetting to get pictures so in the mean time I get to brag. My brother just got his orders for pilot training in Columbus, Mississippi. Yeah Dane!!

Niagara

First of all I have been working a lot (Yipee!) I did not get our anniversary of the days around it off so there is no post for the big # 4. Smitty did get me some yellow gerber daisies and we went to dinner at Outback with all the senior citizens. It was nice to spend time together but I was tired. We decided that we will either go to Toronto for a baseball game or Gettysburg next week to make up for our lame anniversary.

We got a phone call yesterday after church that Smitty's Aunt Leann & Uncle Garner, and cousins Becca, Marianne and cousin-in-law Erin were going to Niagara Falls. So what did we do? Thru a couple of sandwiches and yogurts in the back seat a drove to Niagara to meet up. We both got a little lost getting to the Canadian side but it was worth it. The falls are much grander looking from there. We also got to ride the Maid of the Mist and get drenched.

We are so lucky to have such great family!

My computer is about to die and I forgot my power cord at home. Along with moving this week we are also dog/ house sitting. I just wanted to get a couple pictures up of our new digs.

idaho

we did a quick three day trip up to my grandparents to see them, my parents and my sister. My brother couldn't make it because he is getting his jump wings in Colorado Springs, CO (crazy person!) My mom is known by most for her crazy adventures. That's actually the first thing Chris asked when we went to lunch.

We decided to so the the Japanese interment camp memorial, mammoth cave and the shoshone ice caves. No pics of the internment camp sorry. The mammoth cave was to most entertaining for sure. The guy who owned the property the the lava tube was on had created this crazy huge taxidermy museum to walk thru. He also carved all these stones to look like heads. He had about a dozen peacocks and four or five emus running around. I felt a little creeped out at this place. I kept thinking about texas chainsaw- it was just that creepy. Of course no one knew what I was talking about because no one has seen it. Bad Ashlee.

The shoshone ice cave was really cool. literally. it was to dark to take pictures but my mom tried. we also had a couple of party poopers who would not stop whining about the camera (any guesses?)

I love going to my grandparents. They are always up for anything. They have these great views from their house and a huge back yard. I was able to wander my grandpa's veggies gardens with him and play frisbee with smitty, hannah and grandma.
